PlayStation VR Worlds. A threshold to many worlds.
How can one visual structure hold the promise of many worlds?
Developed for Territory Studio, the work explored a central luminous form as both portal and container — a threshold between the viewer and the different experiences inside PlayStation VR Worlds.
Rather than illustrating each environment separately, the studies searched for one adaptable image system. Scale, colour, refraction and repetition transform the same form across cosmic, organic, graphic and architectural states.
Human figures remain deliberately small, allowing the portal to feel monumental and giving an otherwise abstract structure a physical and emotional scale.
Across wide, portrait and campaign applications, the title and image are developed as one coherent invitation: an opening into somewhere unknown.
Portal.World.Presence.
Phase 01 · Threshold
A world begins as an opening.
The first studies establish a simple relationship: a human figure confronted by an illuminated structure at an impossible scale.
The portal is kept ambiguous — part architecture, part atmosphere, part signal — so that it can suggest entry without defining what lies beyond it.
State language
Volume resolves into an edge.
The circular field is reduced to two decisive states: a luminous volume and a minimal rim.
Seen together, the pair establishes how the portal can shift from an object with depth into a precise graphic threshold.
Material language
Light becomes surface.
Close studies translate the portal light into chromatic grain, refraction and structure.
These surfaces connect the abstract form to the tactile, immersive character of the final identity.
Phase 02 · Identity
The title enters the same field.
Typography is placed inside the portal rather than applied over it. The title becomes a stable point within an image that remains spatial, luminous and in motion.
Wide and centred arrangements test how the system can retain its depth while becoming more direct as an identity.
Phase 03 · Application
A visual idea moving across formats.
The portal system is resolved as campaign imagery, bringing immersive scale into the clarity required by a fixed composition.
The final lockup preserves the essential relationship between figure, portal and title while simplifying the image into a direct, adaptable identity.
Not one world. The moment before every world.
