One system, moving through water, memory and change.

For NAT Gala 2026, TCTS developed a visual language able to move between scientific diagram, documentary title and live-event transition without fragmenting into separate identities.

The work began with water understood as a living system: ocean, atmosphere, land, bodies and infrastructure held in continuous circulation.

Across the event, the same circle, triad, orbit and feedback logic shifted in meaning — becoming reservoir, correspondence, threshold and regenerative loop.

Every image was designed to remain legible at live scale while retaining a sense of discovery, ambiguity and emotional weight.

Water as a living system.

The diagram had to carry two readings at once: evaporation, condensation and precipitation; those who knew, those who forgot and those learning to know again.

Early studies moved from dense planetary fields towards a circle with three active positions. Reduction gave the system scale, clarity and a sense of inevitability.

One structure. Two memories.

The chosen reservoir form was adapted across Act I and the Sylvia Earle narrative. Its geometry remained constant while its language moved from physical process to inherited knowledge.

“The Water Cycle” and “The Ocean” became related states within the same visual memory.

A personal voice at cinematic scale.

The title needed to hold Sylvia Earle’s intimate, authored voice against the scale of the ocean without slipping into a promotional register.

The exploration moved deliberately from expressive handwriting and editorial typography to image-led lock-ups. Handwriting carried presence and correspondence; condensed capitals brought legibility at live scale.

The moment before the overtake.

A supplied graph was distilled to one event: two trajectories approaching contact, with the lower line about to cross and overtake the upper.

The motion was structured in three beats — field, approach and overtake — so contact could operate as a visual threshold rather than a piece of explanation.

Feedback becomes structure.

The circle and three active positions returned as a feedback system in which belief shapes behaviour, behaviour alters reality and reality feeds back into belief.

Spirals, orbital markers and recursive paths allowed the same language to express both a contracting loop and the possibility of regeneration.

One visual language, able to change state.

The completed system could move between diagram, title, data and event-scale image while remaining recognisably part of one world.

Its restraint allowed complex ideas to stay readable from a distance; its recurring structures allowed meaning to accumulate across the experience.

Rather than decorating separate moments, the visual language connected them — making return, memory, transformation and hope feel like parts of the same cycle.
